NWV Recap #3: Capstone, Convos, Complexity, Convoys.

Dear founder,

knowing the inevitability of failure or success can never prepare you for what it will be like to actually experience that failure or success.

like any good roller coaster ride, we’ve had exciting and scary moments this past month.

exciting moments:

- wireframe first iterations completed. different variations: UW capstone & nwv leadership team working on one. user feedback & testing.

- investor convos are starting. hiring money rather than just raising it. potential for deeper relationships expanding.

- convos with eco-system partners beginning. vendors, advisors, contractors, team members. becoming a connected ecosystem.

- complexity is becoming clearer. an understanding of our approach is becoming clearer and more refined as we communicate about it through visuals and other methods.

- convoy conference at vanderbilt. inspiring. motivating.

- starting to test a lot of things. worry about scaling if the test shows it may work. start unscalable to get scalable.

- we have the best humans on our team. the character quality & level of depth around a unique set of skills each individual has is amazing. can’t think of a better group of humans to spend time with.

scary moments:

  • first dates are always awkward. as the vision clarifies, peoples interest & roles clarify, we have to begin to set up share holder agreements and corporate governance rules that set us up for our end goal. whatever that becomes.

  • with clarity comes more lack of clarity. the more we figure out, the more we realize how much we have yet to figure out. shifting timelines and priorities.

  • a lot of moving parts and new information all at once. staying focused & nimble.

  • the first try is never the best try. early-stage pitching & positioning to different stakeholders is never perfect the first time around.

lessons i’ve learned on this ride:

  • it’s time for us to put structure around our operating agreement and structure.

  • test , measure, validate. micro and macro level. honor the energy waves and shifting priorities in real time. trust the context.

stay curious about the forces you're resisting—and creating.

With purpose, vision, & appreciation,

Brooke
