nwv brief #34: letting go

dear founder,
i’ve been practicing stepping back.
not out of disengagement—out of trust.
not to retreat—but to create space.
space for others to step in, decide, lead.
but here’s the question i keep asking:
how do i give the team permission to act—without asking?
i’m realizing it starts with clarity, not control.
when expectations are clear & trust is real, people don’t wait for permission.
they move with confidence.
they take the lead because they know where we’re going—& that they’re part of getting us there.
letting go isn’t losing leadership.
it’s amplifying it.
so i’m learning to listen more, to hold less,
& to let the room become a mirror—not just of my vision,
but of the team’s capacity to bring it to life.
this week, ask yourself:
what permission are you holding that could be handed over?
what might change if you gave it away—quietly & completely?
with purpose, vision, & appeciation,
Brooke
